Chiropractic – Education

Success is a journey, not a destination

Today’s Doctor of Chiropractic is well educated. After completion of undergraduate studies, Chiropractic students receive 4-5 years of postgraduate education, studying content similar to that in medical school. Studies include anatomy, physiology, pathology, neurology, radiology, biomechanics, spinal adjustive techniques and other health related topics. They must pass National Board Examination and meet stringent licensing requirements before practicing. To keep up with the latest research, doctors attend seminars, scientific symposia, and read professional journals.

The primary focus of the chiropractic education is to improve ones wellness naturally and reach optimum health. Students are taught to assess and treat soft tissue (muscular) disorders in order to reduce discomfort and pain and allow for the body’s ability to properly heal and restore its overall health. A chiropractor has a wide assortment of gentle techniques to choose from for treating a patient best and effectively. Most important are the spinal adjustment techniques, those that assist the nervous system to positively repair its bodily dysfunction. Chiropractors also are well educated in other aspects of health including diet, nutrition, and exercise.
